Juan C. Valdes

Juan C. Valdes is an accomplished executive in consumer, pharmaceuticals, operations, and start-ups. He is retired as Founder, President and CEO of Alliance Medical Products (AMP; later acquired by Siegfried AG), a pharmaceutical manufacturer that specialized in hard-to-make and high-value products, taking on challenges that ordinary manufacturers could not or would not meet. Prior to AMP, Mr. Valdes was Global Vice President of Operations at Bausch & Lomb from 1999 to 2001, the worldwide leader in nutritional products for eye health and macular degeneration.

Prior to that, Mr. Valdes served from 1997 to 1999 as Vice President of Consumer and Commercial for US Filter; Group Vice President of Operations, NA, for Culligan Water Technologies; and General Manager of Bruner Water. Mr. Valdes has re-organized and turned around various companies, including the irrigation division of Toro, Liquid AG, and James Hardie Irrigation.

Earlier, Mr. Valdes was at Pharmacia Ophthalmics Inc. from 1987 to 1995, progressing from Director of Engineering to Director of Manufacturing and Engineering, and then to Vice President of Operations. Previous to that, he worked for IOLAB, a division of Johnson & Johnson, where he began his engineering career in 1982.

Mr. Valdes holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has participated in various start-ups as a senior operations executive, including serving as Vice President of Operations for Surgijet, Autonomous Technologies, Visijet, Advanced Refractive, and Dentajet. Also, he was President and CEO of QS Labs.
